Joliet, Illinois, September 14 to 18, 2026. Hosted by Kathy Wight. The club gathered in the “Crossroads of Mid-America” to drive stretches of Route 66 in its 100th anniversary year, visit its roadside landmarks, and tour the Old Joliet Prison.

Monday, September 14

Arrival at the Wingate by Wyndham in Joliet, registration and the meet and greet.

Tuesday, September 15

The Joliet Area Historical Museum, downtown Joliet, the old interlocking tower at Joliet Union Station, and the first cars on the road and stops along Route 66, with lunch at a 1950s-style drive-in.

Wednesday, September 16

The Route 66 tour after a rainy start: a group photo with the Gemini Giant, a roadside tire change with plenty of helpers, and Ambler’s Texaco station in Dwight, Illinois. In the evening, the auction and the finished meet puzzle.

Thursday, September 17

The Old Joliet Prison tour, a drive through the forest preserve, a picnic in the park, a music heritage exhibit, and the closing banquet. The President’s Award went to Roger and Pam Von Bergen, the long-distance award to Sonia Babick, and the award for the longest distance driven in a club car to Tom Schaffer. Todd Ellis won the Misfortune Award. Thanks to hosts Don Gaskill and Kathy Wight, and see you next year in Eureka, California.

Heading home

On the drive home, a stop at the Route 66 Neon Park in St. Robert, Missouri, to see the restored neon signs.
