Introduced in 1928, the model 55 was billed as one of an entirely new series of Durant cars after the one year (1927) break in production. In reality, the model 55 was a repackaged Star model R. The 107 inch wheelbase model 55 featured a six-cylinder Continental engine and four-wheel, Bendix mechanical brakes. The car was guaranteed to have a top speed of 60 miles per hour.
