Improvements made to my D65 with modern parts
Fitted 12V alternator (a common practice).
Replaced original water pump with electric pump. No more leaking seal and out of line with generator.
Put modern engine mounts at rear of motor (15L).
Next step will be to put electric thermo control fan in place of original. Car should keep its cool in parades. These changes are not for concours cars but for rallying etc. and make the car more reliable.

Modern Alternator Upgrade
This was an easy and quick project. The alternator is a common unit off our Holdens and Falcons. A piece of flat 1/4″ was trimmed to fit around the stat housing, with a piece welded at a right angle below the top piece and two lugs for the bolt passing through the alternator mounting and lugs. I filed the head under the two nuts so more thread would protrude (while the head was off). The hole at the front is for the original fan bolts. A stay has yet to be made for the bottom of the alternator to tension the belt; your original fan will adjust the belt. The belt is a modern ribbed type. I will get the crank pulley machined with ribs to match the belt grooves if it slips, but I hope it will grip without machining.
